Causes

There is so much need out there, here are some causes that are close to my heart and things you can do to make a big impact

Homelessness and Poverty

Homelessness isn't a cause that is far away, in another part of the world. It isn't a cause that we have to move mountains in order to contribute to, it's right in our own backyard. One out of three homeless people are teens under the age of 18 who have run away because of abuse or other poor treatment. Homelessness is found in nearly every city in the United States, and we can do something to help.
Recently, I visited Seeds of Hope shelter in Chillicothe. When I went in to donate some goods, I was given a tour of the facility, and had a conversation with one of the volunteers. The shelter provides boarding for the homeless, as well as clothing and computer usage. The volunteers work with those who are struggling, to encourage them and help them locate a job and find housing. While I was there, I was informed that the shelter is currently seeking volunteers to oversee the residence, as well as some items for the shelter such as motivational posters, hygiene products, and housing items such as kitchenware.      About 1 in 7 people in the United States live under the poverty line. While clothing and food is generally taken care of, those that live in poverty have to worry about some things that wouldn't even cross our minds. Things such as: diapers (average cost of $2,500 from birth until potty training), glasses (64% of adults wear glasses, which coast an average of $260), paper goods (toilet paper and tissues average $15), school supplies (44% of children from low income families, check out Salvation Army school supplies drive in Chillicothe to help this cause), and shoes.
